Chris and Robin RemickTo commemorate the bicentennial of St Lawrence County, the St Lawrence County Historical Association and St Lawrence County Government are collaborating on a Bicentennial Celebration to held on Thursday, July 11. The festivities will start at noon with the SLCHA's Executive Director, Trent Trulock, giving a presentation on the county's history at the Silas Wright House. After the presentation, Chris and Robin Remick will be performing a medley of music from the early French to the present. At 2:30 there will be a dedication for a "slice of life" time capsule that will be housed at the SLCHA and opened in 50 years. The items to be placed in the capsule will be photographs and documents reflecting the current events of the county

SLC Map 1804County Government programs begin at 3:00 pm with the dedication and open house of the new county Human Services Building. County departments will have displays pertaining to the county's history throughout the new building and the County Court House. at 6:00 pm, a Dedication Ceremony at the Court House will proclaim the Bicentennial with historical skits, fife and drum corps, and the cutting of the county's birthday cake. Throughout the evening, wagon rides will be available from the Court House to the new Human Services Building.

The festivities will culminate in a parade at 7:00 pm. The parade route will begin at Canton Central School, proceed down State Street to Court Street, then turn onto Judson Street and Farmer Street before returning to the school.

A warm welcome is extended to the public to come out and celebrate St Lawrence County's 200th birthday. Admission is free to all activities.

The SLCHA is taking orders for t-shirts that commemorate the bicentennial. The white shirts have a four-color logo of the county's bicentennial seal and cost $12. There will be some shirts available at the Silas Wright House on the day of the bicentennial events, but to ensure your size, please order in advance.
